The European initiative “Platform-enabled KITs of artificial intelligence FOR an easy uptake by SMEs” (KITT4SME) has started. Over the coming three years, 18 partners from eight countries (Italy, Finland, Germany, Luxembourg, Poland, Croatia, Spain and Switzerland) will contribute to foster innovative Artificial Intelligence for smart manufacturing in small and medium enterprises (SMEs).
KITT4SME is focused on making ready-to-use customized digital packages available to SMEs with the aim of taking advantage of artificial intelligence opportunities at affordable prices and on the appropriate scale. With four selected piloting environments namely injection moulding sector, quality system sector, high-precision hand tools and instruments sector and the electrical equipment sector, KITT4SME prepares, executes and evaluates the validation activities, allowing SMEs to not only improve their products and services but also their entire business.
One important feature of KITT4SME is the open calls, which are designed to benefit SMEs with the opportunities brought by a platform and artificial intelligence-based kits. By experimenting the widespread adoption of modular kits developed for SMEs, two rounds of open calls will be organized for each type of activity. The first one addresses technology providers to enrich the platform offer while the second one will set up experiments combining technological providers and SMEs AI-adopters.
